After years of talking about it, I finally organized for us to rent a house with some family members this summer. I had been looking forward to this vacation for months, well actually years. I was so excited to share the time with my brother's family and my dad, stepmom, and grandma, not to mention my 3 favorite guys.
I got a great recommendation from a friend who stayed in the same place last summer and we booked the place back in January. We stayed just south of Myrtle Beach in Surfside. It was a great location; far enough away from the Ocean Blvd. traffic of the beach, yet still close to the attractions. Here is the realty company we used if you're interested in planning your own get away
www.surfsiderealty.com.Our house had a perfect location. It was near the public beach access and was one allystreet behind the oceanfront properties. Thankfully our house was situated behind a one-story house so we didn't have that much of an obstructed view of the ocean. The house slept all of us pretty comfortably, and I thought it was in decent shape for a rental. It was a big enough place that could accommodate up to 15 people, had a washer/dryer, A/C, 3 balconies, parking for about 3-4 cars, and 4 bathrooms. We rented linens from the company which was worth it not to have to bring our own towels and sheets. It did have kitchen equipment provided, but was bare other than that. Thankfully there was at least 1 roll of toilet paper left by someone! A trip to Walmart soon got us filled up with everything we needed for the week. The best part was having our own private pool for the week. We got way more use out of the pool than we did the beach. The kids and the adults really enjoyed it.
The house was also called "Bikini Bottom", which if you have a toddler running around you know all to well is the town that Sponge Bob lives it. This was icing on the cake for Alex.
